About the Energy Conference 2023
This conference focussing on energetic transition and digital technologies issues and their applicability in Africa in the industry, is hosting this year by the National Committee for Development of Technologies (CNDT), a structure of the Cameroonian Ministry of Scientific Research and Innovation, in partnership with the International Institute for Water and Environmental Engineering (2iE) and the African Network of Solar Energy (ANSOLE). Energy Conference 2023 will be gathering of researchers, policy makers, entrepreneurs, investors, students and other innovators from Cameroon, Africa and beyond to identify new ways of supporting Africa’s sustainable development and to achieve stronger continental competitiveness in the region and its cross-continental partnerships.
Energy Conference 2023 context and objectives
The energy transition and digital technologies are major ongoing transformations in many countries around the world, but their adoption remains modest in Africa. The results from research aimed at developing power system optimization, clean, renewable, and safe energies, as well as recent technological advancements in the digital domain, offer tremendous opportunities for industrial transformation. The gradual shift from carbon-intensive, polluting, or risky energies to green energies (solar, wind, geothermal, hydro, and tidal) addresses a range of challenges beyond reducing greenhouse gas emissions and safeguarding public health, including: Decreasing energy consumption; Reducing disparities in energy access and advancing energy independence. Indeed, the growth of renewable energies, which are inherently intermittent, entails a progressive decentralization of the grid, along with the development of smart grids at local scales, as well as innovative storage solutions. Likewise, digital technologies bring a true revolution to industrial enterprises. Industrial revolution through digital transformation, including the Internet of Things (IoT), 3D printing, and Artificial Intelligence, enables companies to optimize their production systems to make them more efficient and customizable, based on the specific needs of each production line.
Participation & registration
Participation at Energy Conference 2023 is sought from across Africa and globally. National and international actors influencing the energy sector (researchers, policy makers, entrepreneurs, investors, students and innovators) are expected to ensure the linkages between research and development on all research results and innovations that will be presented.
